We’re pleased to announce that we are awarding two final year film students at Staffordshire University a ‘Filmmaker Fund.’ The £300 and £200 prize funds will support two students in creating their final film project, which can be an expensive time for them. This money will allow them to fulfil their vision for the project and can make a significant different to what they are able to achieve. As well as providing funding as support to the students, we will also be meeting with them to talk through their ideas and offer advice and assistant to help them reach their goals.
Supporting young talent in the area is extremely important to us, and we often deliver talks as guest speakers to film students. Most of our staff, including our founding directors, are graduates of Staffordshire University and we want to give back and benefit future filmmakers. It’s important to show talented students and graduates that there is a vibrant media scene in Stoke-on-Trent and a wealth of opportunities for them to stay and work in the area after graduation.
We worked closely with the alumni department at the university to organise the competition and gather entries from the film students. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reviewing the student submissions and we were blown away by the quality of the proposals and wealth of creative ideas. After careful consideration, the winners have been selected and we’re excited to announce them soon. Keep your eyes peeled to meet our winners!
