Stoke-on-Trent has been shortlisted in the running to become the location of one of Channel 4’s creative hubs! If you read our blog, Channel 4 Time to Part of Stoke-on-Trent’s Story, you’ll know that this a fantastic opportunity for SOT and we’re so excited they have recognised the cities potential.

Channel 4’s Chief Commercial Officer, Jonathan Allan, who is leading the pitch process said: “We’ve been incredibly impressed both by the number of pitches we received and by the high quality of the submissions – which has underlined the huge amount of creativity, innovation and talent right across the UK. However we have to move to a shortlist phase and, after careful consideration by the Channel 4 Executive team, we’ve selected 13 cities that are best able to meet our vision for our new hubs in the Nations and Regions.”

The next step for Stoke-on-Trent is to join other shortlisted cities in pitching to Channel 4 in June. So far, we’ve been involved in a project group discussing the best way to approach the submission and we’re passionate about encouraging this move for C4. They will make their final decision on where to place the hubs on the 1st of October.

This move will boost UK nations and regions by £250m and create 300 jobs. In the brochure about the changes, it says the creative hubs will be home to programme-commissioning editors responsible for some of its biggest shows, who will oversee ‘significant spend’.
