Inspired Film and Video have recently completed two new patient information films for UHNM (University Hospital North Midlands) which have not only enabled the Trust to better communicate with patients unable to visit the Hospital during the Covid 19 crisis but will provide an ongoing resource for any patients undergoing breast surgery.
The films, shot on location at Royal Stoke – before the pandemic began – in association with the Breast Care Team feature contributions from Consultants, Surgeons, Nurse Specialists and Physiotherapists discussing the care and the treatments available at UHNM. The aim of the videos are to inform patients undergoing breast surgery about the procedures and what they should expect pre and post operatively.
The films also include step by step guides and demonstrate exercise techniques and lymphoedema massage for patients to carry out. It is hoped these techniques will reduce arm morbidity and increase range of movement. All patients undergoing breast surgery have been provided with access to the videos and these are now available on the UHNM website www.uhnm.nhs.uk
The films were produced using funds from the UHNM Charity.
Rebecca Ellwell, Macmillan Lymphoedema ANP and Team Leader at UHNM said;
‘We worked with the team at Inspired on a series of films about our head and neck cancer treatment team and we were keen to work with them again on this project which has been a great success. During the current Covid 19 crisis the films have proved to be a great resource for communicating with patients with breast lymphoedema and a reduced range of movement as face to face appointments were restricted.’
