We have been busy working with the Stoke and North Staffordshire Women’s Network to produce a documentary film about the importance of women to the ceramics industry. The film has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Stoke on Trent is known world wide as the centre of ceramics excellence and women have been at the heart of the industry and our film is a celebration of their lives, their work and their brilliance.
We have produced a short film which will be shown at an event to celebrate International Women’s Day in Stoke tonight and we will be working on a longer film and digital education pack over the next two months.
We’ve met women who used to work in the industry and heard some fantastic stories. We’ve learnt more about their work and their lives and the film and we’ve included these experiences in the film.
We’ve also filmed on location at World of Wedgwood, Steelite and Moorcroft to compliment the film and have been licensed some wonderful archive footage by the Staffordshire Film Archive.
